Recruiting Your Best FEA Chapter Yet

Every advisor wants a robust chapter with lots of active, engaged students. How can you make this happen? Participate in school Open House events including Freshman Activity Fair, Back-to-School night. FEA members can set up a booth with handouts and face-to-face testimonials about your FEA chapter.

  • Contact local guidance counselors who have results from occupational testing (like a career clusters' inventory) that indicate interests in Education and Training.
  • Contact members of courses that attract future teachers such as child development, parenting and introductory classes for teaching skills.
  • Let other teachers know about your FEA chapter so that they can help recruit "natural" teachers in their classroom. Speak at faculty meetings. Share your successes.
  • Sponsor positive activities that spotlight accomplished teachers. Ask a nationally-certified teacher to speak at a chapter meeting. Host a ChalkWalk.
  • Hold a meeting where each FEA member can bring a friend.
  • Remember promote the profession by showcasing all types of educators (like coaches, media specialists, administrators...)
  • Create a bulletin board/hall display with info about FEA club.
  • Publicly recognize the teaching profession by hosting events during American Education Week and Teacher Appreciation Day.
  • Advertise your chapter through social networking sites such as Facebook.
